Mokolwane Camp

Mokolwane is a small, exclusive safari camp in the remote Xudum Concession (NG29) of the southern Okavango Delta. The 180,000-hectare private wilderness is largely undisturbed. The Mokolwane Camp is set among mokolwane palms, fig, jackalberry, and mangosteen trees. It is the only permanent lodge in the concession, offering complete privacy.

The area has a very high density of leopards, the third highest recorded in Africa. Lions, wild dogs, and cheetahs are also common. Seasonal herds of 5,000 to 10,000 elephants move through, joined by buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and many antelope species.

Mokolwane has been featured in wildlife documentaries by Brad Bestelink for National Geographic, the BBC, and Netflix, including the Emmy-nominated Living With Leopards. Wildlife viewing is excellent year-round, with dry-season concentrations near water and green-season migrations bringing active predators.

Mokolwane Camp has seven elevated treehouse-style tents, including one family unit. These provide safety, comfort, and excellent views. Facilities include a swimming pool, Wi-Fi in rooms, and a communal dining area. Activities include day and night game drives, mokoro excursions depending on water levels, birding, and scenic helicopter flights.

Mokolwane offers an intimate safari experience with privacy and abundant wildlife in one of the Delta’s most dramatic and little-known regions.
