Aptly translated to ‘small gathering’, Madikwe Kopano Lodge hosts a maximum of eight guests in four luxury suites for a truly exclusive safari experience. Here, guests can enjoy a private and serene getaway, far removed from life’s stresses.
Kopano Lodge is situated in the central-eastern region of the Madikwe Game Reserve—known for its rich biodiversity and flora habitats. Daily sunrise and sunset game drives take guests on a breathtaking adventure to spot the Big 5, cheetah, wild dog, and more than 60 mammal species. An expert ranger and tracker team will get to know exactly what your particular areas of interest are, tailor-making your safari to your preferences. After breakfast, you can set off on a walking safari with a ranger. Bush walks are the perfect way to explore the smaller intricacies of the ecosystem and to get up-close photo opportunities of birds, flora, insects, and small mammals.
Guests at Kopano Lodge can request to join a rhino conservation experience or roll up your sleeves and partake in some of the local community development programmes. These community visits take your safari to a new level, allowing you to learn about the vibrant local culture and heartfelt hospitality of the people.
With an extraordinary organic design, the main lodge area exudes warmth and comfort while upholding the utmost respect for the surrounding natural environment. High thatch ceilings and spacious open lounges provide a luxurious treehouse feel with glorious views. The main area is also home to an outdoor firepit, perfect for evenings of stargazing and a nightcap.

Madikwe Game Reserve is located in the North Western Province of South Africa and lies on the South Africa/Botswana border.
Getting There
- Madikwe airstrip is the closet airstrip.
- There are two daily scheduled return flights from Johannesburg to Madikwe Airstrip with Federal Airlines.
- Flight time: Johannesburg to Madikwe: 60 minutes
- Road transfers from Madikwe Airstrip to the lodge take approximately 15 – 30 minutes.
- The reserve is a 4.5-hour drive from Johannesburg.
