Kapama Buffalo Camp is a 5-star luxury tented camp in Kapama Game Reserve. Kapama Buffalo Camp is an intimate safari lodge, perfect to unwind, relax in the shade of the trees and enjoy the peace and quiet of the reserve. The luxury tents boast the finest comforts and are set high up in the tress, only assessable by elevated wooden walk-ways. The Lodge offers an intimate thatch roof lounge with comfy couches a perfect spot for birdwatching. An elevated rim flow pool is surrounded by sun loungers and boasts excellent views of the flora and fauna of the reserve. Evenings are spent listing to the sounds of nature under the African stars and dining takes place next to an open fire in the traditional African Boma.

The timber platform above the ground hosts 2 guests for a night secluded in the bushveld. With the treehouse illuminated by lanterns, a five-course dinner is served by a personal chef after which you can enjoy the tranquillity of nature’s sounds and glimmering African skies. Your home for the night is equipped with a bathroom which has a flush toilet, shower, and his and hers basins.
Wildlife:
- High concentration of Big 5 with large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as large lion prides.
- Other wildlife include but are not limited to the hippopotamus, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, African wild dog, hyaena, warthog and many other cat and antelope species.
- Large antelope herds support the populations of predators in the reserve.
- Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the region. Many can be seen in the reserve.
Game Drives:
- Game drives take place twice a day in the early mornings and afternoons for a duration of 3-4 hours.
- Game drives are led by an experienced guide and tracker team.
- Vehicles are allowed to go off road to track and follow the wildlife.
- Strict traverse rules are in place and vehicle numbers are limited in each reserve. A maximum of two vehicles are allowed at any sighting.
- Night drives and guidedbushs walk are permitted.

- Located in the western region of the Greater Kruger, nestled between Blyde River Canyon and Kruger National Park. The reserve borders the Balule and Thornybush private game reserves.
- The Kruger National Park is almost 2 million hectares and lies in the north-eastern corner of South Africa in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.
- Kapama Game Reserve is 15,000 hectares in size.
Getting there:
- Hoedspruit (HDS) is the closet commercial airport to the Kapama, daily flights operate from Johannesburg and Cape Town.
- Flight time from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit: 60 minutes.
- Flight time from Cape Town to Skukuza: 2 hours 30 minutes.
- Road transfers from Hoedspruit to Kapama take 30 minutes lodge depending.
