Private Concessions
The private concessions nestled within Kruger National Park offer an exceptional safari experience, comparable to the renowned private reserves along the western boundary of the Greater Kruger. Though smaller in size, typically ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 hectares, these unfenced areas allow wildlife to move freely, providing guests with authentic and immersive safari encounters.
With only a few lodges in each concession, visitors enjoy an intimate and exclusive experience. Strict traverse rules ensure that game drives are uncrowded, allowing for close-up wildlife encounters. Guests can enjoy activities not permitted in the public areas of the park, including off-road game drives, walking safaris, and night drives, all designed to deepen the safari experience and bring them closer to the bush.
The ability to venture off-road is a particular highlight, enabling skilled trackers to follow animals closely for spectacular sightings. Accommodation ranges from ultra-luxury retreats like Singita and Lion Sands to family-friendly lodges, ensuring options for all ages. Each lodge provides a unique base from which to explore the rich wilderness, combining comfort with the thrill of the African bush.
Wildlife
- High concentration of Big 5 with large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as large lion prides.
- Other wildlife include but are not limited to the hippopotamus, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, African wild dog, hyaena, warthog and many other cat and antelope species.
- Large antelope herds support the populations of predators in the reserve.
- Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the region. Many can be seen in the reserve.
Game Drive
- Game drives take place twice a day in the early mornings and afternoons for a duration of 3-4 hours.
- Game drives are led by an experienced guide and tracker team.
- Vehicles are allowed to go off road to track and follow the wildlife.
- Strict traverse rules are in place and vehicle numbers are limited in each reserve. A maximum of two vehicles are allowed at any sighting.
- Night drives and guided bushwalks are permitted.

- Seven private concessions are located inside the gates of the Kruger National Park.
- The Kruger National Park is almost 2 million hectares and lies in the north-eastern corner of South Africa in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.
Getting There
- The best way to travel to the Kruger National Park safari lodges is to fly into one of the Kruger’s three airports, followed by a road transfer.
- Flight time from Johannesburg to Kruger: 60 minutes.
- Flight time from Cape Town to Kruger: 2 hours 30 minutes.
- Road transfer time to the reserves from the Kruger airports generally range between 30 and 120 minutes.
