    Mark’s Camp, the family friendly lodge is strategically positioned within the heart of Lalibela Game Reserve, providing guests with a front-row seat to the captivating wildlife and stunning landscapes that characterize this region. Lalibela Game Reserve is located approximately 90 minutes away from Port Elizabeth, providing easy access for travelers seeking an escape into the heart of the African wilderness.

    Mark’s Camp can accommodate up to 18 adults and 8 children.  Mark’s Camp prides itself on offering an intimate and exclusive experience, with only eight elegantly appointed stone & thatch chalets.  Guests can expect spacious interiors with contemporary African decor, private decks offering panoramic views of the bushveld, and lavish en-suite bathrooms.

    The camp features two swimming pools, a central lodge with a well-appointed lounge, a curated library and an indoor dining area. A traditinaol outdoor Boma is located in the camp for fireside dinning under the stars and open-air brunches.  Animals such as antelope, giraffe, elephant and other predators can be observed at the waterhole in front of the lodge, a real highlight when staying at Mark’s Camp.

    Lalibela Game Reserve is situated, is a 10,500 hectare private reserve that boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna. This malaria-free game reserve offers an exceptional opportunity to see the Big Five as well as a wide variety of other wildlife in their natural habitat. The reserve’s ecosystem, featuring expansive plains, dense thickets, and meandering waterways, makes it a captivating destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

    Lalibela Game Reserve provides an array of safari experiences that cater to diverse interests. Guided game drives offer an opportunity to witness the majesty of African wildlife up close, while guided bush walks invite guests to connect with the smaller wonders of the reserve, including tracking animal prints and identifying native flora.

    Game Drives:

    • Game drives take place twice a day in the early mornings and afternoons for a duration of 3-4 hours.
    • Game drives are led by an experienced guide.
    • Night drives and guided bush walk are permitted.
    • 10-seater vehicles.

    Wildlife:

    • Lalibela is a Big-5 reserve and is home to the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.
    • Particularly known for its high density of free-roaming lions, which are particularly supported by the high numbers of plains game.
    • Other wildlife include giraffe, hippo, cheetah, hyena, zebra, impala, wildebeest, red hartebeest, blesbuck, a variety of antelope species and more.
    • A large bird colony is found in the reserve.
    • Leopard sightings are rare in any eastern cape game reserve.
