Tawana Camp

Tawana Camp is a luxury safari camp in the south-eastern Moremi Game Reserve, part of Botswana’s Okavango Delta UNESCO World Heritage Site. Open year-round, it sits along the Gomoti River, where wildlife moves freely through the unfenced camp. The surrounding floodplains and riverine forests host large herds of antelope, predators, and abundant birdlife.

Tawana Camp has eight suites, including three family units. Each blends natural tones, local craftsmanship, and modern comfort. Suites feature private plunge pools, outdoor salas, and sweeping views of the floodplains. Raised walkways connect guests to shared spaces: a lounge, wine bar, wood-fired pizza oven, dining decks, and a library celebrating Moremi’s history. There’s also a lap pool, gym, and in-room spa treatments.

Activities at Tawana Camp focus on land-based game drives, scenic helicopter flights, and guided birding. Drives reveal lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, and over 400 bird species. Each season brings something unique, from dry-season predator gatherings to lush summer landscapes and migratory birds. Wildlife

Predators include lion, leopard, African wild dog, spotted hyena, and cheetah.
Large herbivores such as elephant, buffalo, red lechwe, impala, kudu, giraffe, and zebra.
Aquatic wildlife features hippos in the Gomoti River and Nile crocodiles along the banks.
July to October sees large herds large herds of elephants, buffalo, and other herbivores gather near the Gomoti River and surrounding floodplains.
November to March elephants move into mopane forests, with green season bringing peak bird activity.
Over 400 bird species recorded, including African fish eagle, saddle-billed stork, wattled crane, and seasonal migratory birds.

Game Drives

Game drives take place in open 4×4 safari vehicles.
A maximum of 6 guests per vehicle.
Routes cover riverine forest, floodplains, mopane woodland, and open grasslands.
Experienced professional guides with in-depth knowledge of Moremi’s wildlife and ecosystems.
Drives focus on both large predator sightings and general game.
Game drives typically last 3–4 hours.

Getting There

The best way to get to Tawana Camp is to fly from Johannesburg to Maun, followed by a flight via light aircraft to the Santawani Airstrip.
Flight time from Johannesburg to Maun: 1 hour 50 minutes.
Flight time from Maun to Santawani Airstrip: 20 – 30 minutes.
