    Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge

    Situated in the Balule Nature Reserve which forms part of the expansive Greater Kruger National Park, Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge offers an intimate Big 5 safari experience. Twice-daily game drives in this preserved Big 5 territory takes place incompletely open 10-seater 4×4 safari vehicles. This allows for unrestricted views and ideal photography opportunities. Evening game drives at Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge provide a new dimension to the safari experience as the mysteries of nocturnal predators are unveiled.  Your evening game drive includes a spectacular sundowner stop as the sounds of crickets, frogs, and distant wild calls are heard. For an up-close experience in the bush, join your guide on a walking safari and discover some of the finer details, smaller animals, colourful birds, and fascinating insects in the African bush.

    After a day exploring lion, leopard, elephant, Cape buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and a great variety of antelope, retreat to the luxurious four-star Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge with its shaded manicured lawns, swimming pool, hammock garden, and deck with magnificent views over a waterhole.     Wildlife:

    • High concentration of Big 5 with large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as large lion prides.
    • Other wildlife include but are not limited to the hippopotamus, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, African wild dog, hyaena, warthog and many other cat and antelope species.
    • Large antelope herds support the populations of predators in the reserve.
    • Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the region. Many can be seen in the reserve.

    Game Drives:

    • Game drives take place twice a day in the early mornings and afternoons for a duration of 3-4 hours.
    • Game drives are led by an experienced guide and tracker team.
    • Vehicles are allowed to go off road to track and follow the wildlife.
    • Strict traverse rules are in place and vehicle numbers are limited in each reserve. A maximum of two vehicles are allowed at any sighting.
    • Night drives and guided bushwalks are permitted.

    • Located in the western region of the Greater Kruger and borders the Kruger National Park, as well as Klaserie, Makalali and Kapama Game reserves.
    • The Kruger National Park is almost 2 million hectares and lies in the north-eastern corner of South Africa in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.

    Getting there:

    • Hoedspruit (HDS) is the closet commercial airport to the Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge, daily flights operate from Johannesburg and Cape Town.
    • Flight time from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit: 60 minutes.
    • Flight time from Cape Town to Hoedspruit: 2 hours 30 minutes.
    • Road transfers from Hoedspruit to Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge take 80 minutes.

    Child Policy:

    • Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge welcomes children of all ages.
    • Children under 12 years pay 50% of adult rate when sharing with their parents.
