    Cheetah Plains Game Reserve

Cheetah Plains provides a sophisticated eco-luxury safari experience dreamier and more opulent than you could ever imagine a stay in the African wild to be. The extraordinary setting blends state- of-the-art comforts seamlessly into the natural surroundings of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Here, guests enjoy ultimate privacy, a personal chef, butler, and private game viewing with a designated field guide, tracker, and safari vehicle for the duration of their stay. The three contemporary villas each accommodate four to eight guests. The organic design elements and architecture combine raw, rich timbers with patented metals and bronze accents. It is a perfect harmonious integration of tasteful opulence and rugged bushveld territory. The award-winning villas are aptly named after two of Sabi Sand’s legendary leopards and a dominant lion pride. The Karula villa is disabled-friendly while interlinking rooms are available for parents with small children in all the villas.

Every luxury bush home has its own indigenous garden, two lounges, a dining area, outdoor boma for star-lit fire-side dining, a wine cellar, heated swimming pool, and a private viewing deck. Not overlooking a single aspect of luxurious living, Cheetah Plains offers a central gym facility and private spa therapist. The Sabi River and the Sand River both run across the Sabi Sand Game Reserve making it a haven for wildlife and birds. The area is known for exceptional animal sightings including lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, hyena, and cheetah. When not soaking up luxury or venturing out on game viewing adventure, guests can enjoy off-site activities such as helicopter flights, hot air ballooning, fishing, and mountain biking.

    Malaria:

    • Although a malaria zoned area, the risk of malaria in the Sabi Sands is usually low, even in the summer months.
    • The highest risk period is between November and April (summer rainy season).
    • Most types of mosquito that are encountered will not carry the malaria parasite.
    • Mosquitoes most often bite between dusk and dawn.
    • The risk of malaria can be reduced by preventing mosquito bites by covering exposed skin with light clothing or insect repellents, ensuring netted screens are kept closed and burning anti-mosquito coils.
    • Malaria prophylactic drugs can be taken that will further decrease the chances of contracting malaria.
