Maxa is a luxury tented camp perfectly positioned in the heart of the vast Kaza Transfrontier Park, an area half the size of California. The region is known for its expansive, rarely explored seasonal floodplains and its rich mosaic of vegetation and ecosystems. Overlooking the permanent Maxa Lagoon, this exclusive camp blends seamlessly into its surroundings and offers guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in an unspoiled wilderness.
The camp’s design philosophy celebrates exploration, learning, and the freedom to connect with nature. It features a freeform lounge and dining area under light canvas roofs, partially enclosed by traditional clay walls. Handmade local furniture reflects the creative spirit of the region. At the heart of the camp lies a courtyard with picnic-style dining beneath the shade or stars, centered around a termite mound, a nod to the island’s natural formation.
Accommodation caters to a maximum of 12 guests across five tents, including one family tent. Each tent balances practicality and comfort with both indoor en-suite and full outdoor bathrooms. The camp focuses on authentic, active safari experiences. Guests can explore the diverse landscapes by mokoro excursions, guided walks, and day or night nature drives. - The best way to get to Maxa Camp is to fly from Johannesburg to Maun, followed by a flight via light aircraft to the Kaza private airstrip.
- Flight time from Johannesburg to Maun: 1 hour 50 minutes.
- Flight time from Maun to Kaza private airstrip: 30 minutes.

- High season: Child rate is only available when booked into the family tent(s) with two sharing adults.
Inclusions & Exclusions
