With 28,555 hectares of protected wildlife territory, Phinda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu Natal is home to a magnificent array of birdlife and wildlife, including Africa’s Big 5 namely lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and Cape buffalo. Freshwater lakes attract hippo and crocodile while nearby beaches are the breeding ground for Leatherback Turtles. The reserve is renowned for close-up sightings of cheetah, and rare black rhino. With a wealth of knowledge and passion for conservation expert rangers and trackers guide specialist safaris across the seven ecosystems within the reserve. Children of all ages are welcome. with special wildlife activities planned for the More Detailslittle ones. No children under 16 on walking safaris. With use of the private vehicle, children of any age may go on game drive, with access to sightings being at the discretion of the guide, based on the behaviour of both child and animals.

The reserve is a 3.5-hour drive from Durban, 2-hour drive from Richards Bay, or a 7-hour drive from Johannesburg with all routes along the N2 highway. The entrance to the reserve is 22km from the highway.
Fly from all major centres in South Africa to Durban’s international airport. Flights on selected airlines are available to Richards Bay. Private charters from any location in South Africa can be arranged to the Phinda airstrip.
