Amakhala Safari Lodge
Four star rated Safari Lodge in a valley of indigenous bush at the northern boundary of Amakhala Game Reserve, offers the three-day Tuskers Package which, along with activities on Amakhala offers a game drive into Addo Elephant National Park. African tribal design-inspired owners and artists, Mike and Justine Weeks’ meticulous attention to detail is reflected in the fine African beadwork and handcrafted designs that are evident throughout this prestigious lodge. This thatched lodge with its unique safari suites and signature stone-capped roof tops, offers all the comforts of a luxury lodge and is an undisturbed retreat where you can regenerate your soul and tune into the sounds of nature. The view from the safari suites and lounge area is of the waterhole where monkeys come to play and antelope and zebra to quench their thirst.
The Amakhala Game Reserve is a malaria-free, private game reserve spanning over 8500 hectares of African landscape in the Eastern Cape. The family-run game reserve is home to a variety of lodges and is known for its magnificent fauna, breath-taking views, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. With preservation of the natural environment and conservation of wildlife high on their priority list, Amakhala’s game rangers are experts in their field and incredibly passionate about providing quality safari experiences to all guests. The reserve hosts five of South Africa’s eight biomes making it ideal for a diverse selection of wildlife and indigenous flora. Besides lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo, you will also see an abundance of other wildlife such as giraffe, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest, and various antelope species. The Bushman’s River runs through the reserve attracting a bright variety of remarkable bird species. Here, you can enjoy cruises along the Bushman’s River on a boat safari, viewing birds and wildlife from the water.

The reserve is a 1-hour drive from Port Elizabeth or a 9-hour drive from Cape Town, both on the scenic N2 highway. Driving from Cape Town takes you through the Garden Route for approximately 816km from which you will turn to the reserve entrance.
